Léo Delibes (1836–1891) was a French composer best known for his elegant and melodious ballet and opera music. Born in Saint-Germain-du-Val, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire and became a central figure in French musical life during the 19th century. Delibes is especially celebrated for his ballets Coppélia and Sylvia, which helped elevate ballet music to a new level of artistic sophistication.
