Our latest work this month is:

Handel's Messiah – The Christmas Section with the Hallelujah Chorus
New edition by Roar Kvam

George Frideric Handel's Messiah is one of the most celebrated choral masterpieces in the Western musical tradition. Composed in 1741 to a libretto by Charles Jennens drawn entirely from the Bible, the oratorio traces the story of Christ through prophecy, birth, passion, resurrection, and the promise of redemption.

This edition presents the Christmas section (Part I), the portion most frequently performed during the Advent and Christmas season. It opens with Isaiah's words of comfort, unfolds through beloved choruses such as And the Glory of the Lord and For unto Us a Child Is Born, includes the pastoral beauty of the Pifa (Pastoral Symphony) and the angelic proclamation to the shepherds, and concludes with a joyful celebration of the coming of Christ.

To complete the Christmas concert experience, this edition also includes the magnificent Hallelujah Chorus. Although it originally concludes Part II of Messiah, it has become an enduring Christmas tradition around the world. Its majestic proclamation—"King of Kings, and Lord of Lords"—and its brilliant writing for choir, orchestra, and trumpets have made it one of the most recognizable and inspiring works in the choral repertoire.
